Do military relocation
buyers prefer Killeen, Copperas Cove or Harker Heights?
Buyers moving to the area due to military relocation have a lot to
choose from. Each city has it’s own personality. More upscale homes
are found in Harker Heights. Killeen has the most housing available as
it is the largest city. Copperas Cove is more of a small town
atmosphere with excellent schools, offering a slower pace and more
laidback lifestyle.
How far in advance should I
come to Fort Hood to look at homes prior to my PCS date? The
current market has provided us with a great inventory of homes. If you
would like to move right in on a certain date, you may want to come a
week or so prior to your relocation date so you have time to find a home
and negotiate a purchase. If the home you want to purchase is vacant, it’s possible we can
negotiate a temporary lease so you can move in before closing.
What about new homes? Are
there homes already built or will I need to contract to build one?
It’s a great time to buy a new home! Builders are offering great
incentives to buyers, such as paying all closing costs, buying interest
rates down below market, installing blinds, refrigerators, and anything
else you can think of. There are plenty of new construction homes in
new home developments that are already finished and ready for you to
move right in!
What about buying a “resale”
or “existing home?”
There is good value in an existing or resale home. As long as you
have a home inspection done by a professional licensed home inspector
you should be fine. Most sellers are willing to fix anything the
inspector finds that needs to be repaired. Sellers may help with your
closing costs, too. Many sellers are also offering one year
“residential service contracts” on existing homes. This service policy
is paid for by the seller and covers your appliances, heating, air
conditioning and other systems of the home for one year. Be sure to
ask for a residential service contract when you buy an existing home.
How long do I need to plan
to stay in Fort Hood to finalize the purchase of my new home?
We are well versed in helping buyers purchase real estate from any
point around the globe. If you start negotiations on a home and
are not
finalized by the time you need to leave the area, everything can be
completed via phone, fax, email and overnight express mail.
