Austin is the capital city of Texas and the county seat of the Travis County. It is the fourth largest city of Texas and sixteenth largest in the whole state. • Elisabet Ney Museum - Formerly a studio and portrait collection hall for the recognized sculptor of the 19th century Elisabet Ney, the museum houses her artistic works and early historical events of Texas.
• French Legation Museum - Built in 1840s, the museum was a home to the "chargé d'affaires", French government representative in Texas. It is the oldest frame structure existing in Austin.
• George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center - Austin African-American heritage on spotlight. • Lyndon Baines Johnson National Historical Park - The park tells the entire life story of former president Lyndon Baines Johnson starting from his ancestors to his final resting place in LBJ ranch. Take note of the schedule of special events to be held in the park for the whole year.
• Neill-Cochran House - This magnificent Greek revival house, created in 1855, is one of Austin city's oldest and most preserved landmarks. It was designed and built by Abner Cook, builder of some of Austin's historical houses like the governor's mansion in Texas.
• Texas Governor's Mansion - Built in 1856; this mansion has certainly witnessed the history of Texas' being the home of the state governors through the years.
