Fort Hood Homes - Killeen Texas Homes

Fort Hood offers excellent home values for buyers.   The Killeen, TX area was named the 9th most affordable U.S. real estate market in 2008.  Fort Hood home buyers will find a large selection of existing homes for sale, as well as new construction homes for sale in Killeen, Copperas Cove and Harker Heights.     One story homes are very popular in homes under 2000 square feet.   Larger homes are usually two stories.   Homes built before 1970 are usually on a pier and beam foundation.  Newer site built homes are usually built on a monolithic reinforced concrete foundation.    Older homes may have brick, aluminum or vinyl siding.   Most newer homes have a brick veneer on the exterior walls, which is low maintenance and resistant to the weather.

Where is Fort Hood, Texas?

Ft. Hood is located on State Highway 190 (Central Texas Expressway) between Austin, Texas and Dallas, Texas, west of IH35, at the northeastern tip of the famous “Texas Hill Country” , where the  landscape transitions from scenic rocky hills to the black soil farmlands to the east.  There are two popular Corps of Engineer lakes nearby at Stillhouse Hollow Reservoir and at Lake Belton.    Both lakes are popular destinations for fishing, boating and other recreation.
